Cuba, late spring 1952. The Finca Vigía had been plagued by a series of break-ins. Hemingway and his 12-gauge Scott were on guard. One night in January ’53 thieves entered the house again. Ernest heard them, slipped out of bed, picked up a .22 rifle and fired a shot at the last one escaping out this bathroom window. Mary wrote that the next morning they found blood on the terrace outside.

Woody Allen’s latest venture did not disappoint me in the slightest. His dialogue, as always, is so real and full of subtext. While watching I found myself jealous of Owen Wilson’s character. Like Allen, I would choose to live in Paris in the 1920’s if given a choice. The casting of my literary idols was simply perfect. Hemingway and Stein, in particular. I would highly recommend this film.

Choose Your Own Adventure of the Day: The Netherlands’ national air carrier, KLM, is set to launch a Facebook app that will allow passengers to pick their seatmates based on similarities in their online profiles.
After purchasing a ticket, patrons will be invited to link their Facebook profiles to their check-in information using a web tool called “Meet & Seat.”
They will then be presented with a list of other passengers with similar interests, hobbies, and/or vocations who have done the same, and will be able to select the person they feel most comfortable sharing the flight with.
The app is still being developed, and the official launch isn’t expected until next year, but other airlines are already looking into building similar “social seating tools.”
